AREFLH is a partner of the EU project called LivingSoiL, its motto is “Healthy Soil to Permanent Crops Living Labs".
The project will create five Living Labs in: Italy, France, Portugal, Spain, and Italy. They will focus on permanent crops (vineyards, olive groves, chestnuts, hazelnuts, and apple orchards). These Living Labs will aim at improving healthy soils and ecosystem services through co-creating, co-implementing, and co-testing digital solutions to :
- reduce erosion,
- improve soil structure,
- reduce the impacts of the intensive use of fertilizers and pesticides,
- increase water storage,
- enhance soil biodiversity, and the overall resilience of soil.
The labs will develop locally adjusted innovative solutions, spread sustainable soil management practices, and enhancing soil literacy.
The Second Consortium Meeting of the project was held online on the 29th of January 2025. The goal of the meeting was to provide an overview of the activities held in the eight months of the project.
Also, the consortium discussed the activities for the next six months :
- the implementation of the regional living labs and the workshops that will be organized
- the activities related to the business models, exploitation scaling up, and transferability solutions
- the creation of the LivingSoiLL Community of Practices and the involvement of different stakeholders.
The partners have also discussed in detail the further activities of the project such as the networking and synergies with sibling projects, with projects funded under the same calls and the activities related to all the work packages.
This LivingSoiLL Consortium Meeting was a significant step forward in fostering collaboration, sharing knowledge, and advancing the project’s goals of boosting soil health and sustainability.
