Since 1951, the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) has been organising the International Congress on Irrigation and Drainage. These congresses are designed to discuss and evaluate future developments and dynamics in the water sector on a global scale. In the face of global warming, changing climatic conditions, population explosion, increasing demand and constant technological advances, the ICID congresses aim to reflect on the current challenges facing the sector and develop concrete solutions.

The 26th ICID International Congress, to be held in Marseille from 12 to 17 October 2026, will focus on the theme of ‘Water and agricultural resilience in the face of climate change’. It will mark a new stage in the collective reflection on the future of irrigated agriculture in the face of global challenges. This event will offer a unique platform for exchange, cooperation and innovation to build sustainable solutions together.
